Countdown Disney
Wow, we are only 24 days from our week long Disney Trip! Our last visit was October of 2003, shown in the photo over there. This will be our 7th trip to The World in Florida together. We've also been out to Disneyland in CA a few times. We are kinda Disney nuts. During the last part of the week, our friends Ryan and Laura will be there too! We started our countdown at about 175. Oh, and hey, Happy New Year by the way.

Does Not Travel Well

Grizwalds
Greetings of the season to all... Our house has no Christmas lights, but plenty of our neighbors took care of business this year. This house is around the corner from us. Their back yard faces us, and the back is way more interesting than the front! Huge covered porch that takes up most of the back yard, with a tv, fridge (full-sized) etc etc out there. What's not porch is an above ground pool and deck. They are often referred to as the rednecks by the rest of the neighborhood. It's hilarious. But I love the lights!

Life.. short.. precious.. etc etc
Chatted with my friend Mike today... that's him at Seaport Village in San Diego last July. We were complaining a bit about our jobs. He owns an electronic court recording company. He can pick and choose his clients. If someone is particularly nasty to him on the phone, he tells them he's too busy to do their job. And moves on to the next client. I get tired of being told HOW to do my job by someone who has recently read a "dummies" book for home purchasing. So... we are going to make a plaque or banner or poster out of this and market it:
Life is short.... but even if you live to be 100 years old... don't waste one precious day dealing with a shithead!

A few more photo from last night's show...
4 chicks
Ah.... what a neat twist! Last night, I stayed sober and Ben was DRUNK! Nooner had a great show at Maggie Mae's with the official addition of their 5th member, Aaron. I love this photo of me and my buddies!

LOVELY CONSTRUCTION
Ben and I like to travel a lot. One thing we've noticed that is universal to EVERY city we've been in... San Diego, Cleveland, Columbus, Orlando, Dallas, Boston, Houston, New Orleans, HOME IN AUSTIN... is that we always find lots of construction! It's craziness. This photo is on my way to work every day. I hope to take this same photo about every 2 weeks, just to track the progress of more taxation without representation. State Highway 45 toll road project is going up. (This photo is actually in Round Rock) Soon I'll have to pay to go to work!!! WTF???? Are we in Dallas? Ah, we old natives of Austin fight that war every day. We DO NOT want to be Dallas or Houston! That's why we live here!!!
Okay. I'm done.
Thank you.

GIFT OF THE BEAGLE
So, I'm guessing the celebration last night finally got me in the mood for some Christmas shopping. I had done none. Zip. Zero. Nada. I've had a nagging cough/cold/allergy attack for about a month now, and my energy is just zapped. Didn't even put the tree up this year. But, I really enjoy giving presents to those close to me, especially the younger kids in the family. And I normally enjoy shopping, too. So, Ben and I set out for the mall yesterday, noonish. By 4pm I was 75% done! Voila! And I didn't feel all over-commercialized and all that. I found things I know the recipient will want, not just a gift for the sake of finding ANYTHING.
Today, I headed for Toys R Us to finish, and started wrapping. As you can see, the Beagle was lots of help. He supervised my every move.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!
BIRDS
Saturday night, Ben and I were driving to a Hanukkah party and noticed this large town meeting of birds. This is the intersection of I-35 and 1825 in P'ville. I've always wanted a photo of birds in flight in the sunset. Okay, so they are a little blurry, but there they are! We looked all around the intersection, and the only congregation was by the fast food places. Birds aren't so dumb, now are they?
The Hanukkah party was fun! I know so little about Judaism, I struggled not to ask too many stupid questions. The food was excellent, as was the company. I even brought home some Chanukkah Gelt!

Cliche photo...
We recently took a short trip to New Orleans. I thought this photo was particularly nice. Foggy morning, which matched our brains after Bourbon Street the night before. The thing is, everyone who visits the French Quarter has some version of this photo, but I wanted to post it anyway. The Jackson Square area is interesting, and there's always a wedding going on on Saturday afternoons here at the Cathedral. On one visit, we saw a large wedding party walking the entire perimeter of Jackson Square, dancing and waving streamers around. They were lead by a couple of jazz horn players. It was great! New Orleans is definitely one of my favorite short trip destinations.

Merry Christmas!
Here is the stinky rottenest dog you will ever meet. His name is Elway, and he lets us live in the same house as him. (as he?) oops.
And yes, he is named after that quarterback.
