Empty Bowl Project
I have a thing about bowls. I love them. To borrow a phrase, I lerve them. I have bowls in my cabinets older than me, (shoosh Nicole) hand-me-downs from my mother. All sizes and colors. I was reading Austin Monthly and came across an event that really caught my eye. This pottery studio, ClayWays, is presenting an event called the Empty Bowl Project, "where professional potters, celebrities, students and volunteers from the studio will sell handmade bowls. People can buy these bowls and enjoy soup and bread made by various Austin restaurants for a suggested minimum donation of $15. ... All money collected will be given to the Capital Area Food Bank." (from Austin Monthly) It will be held on Sunday, November 20 at ClayWays Pottery Studio & Gallery, 5442 Burnet Road in Austin. I think I'll do it! Wanna join me?
Just look at all those bowls! Makes my eyes glaze over. (pun intended)

Cool! I can understand loving something obscure like this - I have a fascination for glass. This is an awesome idea and I really like the moral behind it "visitors will keep the bowls as a reminder that there are always empty bowls in the world and we must keep striving to end hunger."
Unfortunately, I have a tendancy to collect EVERYTHING!! Oh well. I agree that the moral behind it is fantastic. Should Ben complain about how many bowls you come home with, remind him that this time you are helping to end hunger for both you AND the community! =)
