Yum-O! Delish!
Just borrowing a few Rachael-isms there to describe my first Sushi Experience! I've been bugging my friend Kristin for a few weeks now about wanting to try sushi. I've been bugging her because I know she loves it... so I felt like she needed to be the one to start me off. And I love it! We had Philadelphia rolls, spicy tuna rolls, ummmmm... oh yeah, California rolls and something called Hot Rolls. We started with miso soup that was very good as well. K had saki, I stuck with my chardonnay. We ate at a place called Umi Sushi Bar and Grill. Thank you Kristin! I absolutely loved it and can't wait to try new kinds!
You'll note in the photo that I have not mastered chopsticks yet. Luckily they have beginner's sticks for folks like me.

The sushi world is a infinitely delicious one.
It's hard to find good sushi in Austin since we're land-locked but Uchi is probably the best that there is in Austin. It's on Lamar, I'm sure a quick Google search would bring it up. It's pricey though, so save it for a special occasion. Most Austinites swear by Mushashino's off of Mopac. Mushashinos will also put a significant dent in your wallet.
For warmups, try Maiko's happy hour. Easy on the wallet and yummy in the tummy.

Yay! I'm glad you liked it. I have wanted to try some of the places Finnegan recommends - so we should definately go again (maybe the boys - or the girls! - will join us?). I like Umi because it's reasonably priced and the quality is great - it's my favorite "regular" place in Austin. But I really want to try Uchi and Maiko too.
Lisa, I thought you knew how to use chopsticks...you carried around some in your purse for a long time!
