My Version - SXSW 2005
So, here's my photo version of the SXSW Music Festival... on my drive down there I decided to take advantage of the bumper to bumper traffic on the upper deck and take some photos... The Rose Bowl Champs sign and the very overcast Austin Skyline. I really liked the Rose Bowl sign... simple yet bragging. There were SO many people in town the week of March 13 - 20! The signs at the Dizzy Rooster, where the Austin Indie Alliance set up camp for a long week of shows... that's Nooner's poster high above 6th Street. We all had a great time and saw so many great bands play that I can't remember them all! One of my favorites, other than the obvious of Nooner and Bag100, is Goodwin. They are from the DFW area and so much fun to watch perform. Last year I was a little irritated with Ben because he was gone so much. This year, I went down there more and now I understand why he does it! So, next year I'll try to get some time off from my slave-driving job... Look here for Ben's and Christine's photos, and also a bunch from Special K.

Melancholy?
I've been thinking about my mother more than usual lately. Maybe because of what Nicole's mom is dealing with... maybe because Ben and I finally got married... maybe because it's UT baseball time and I sit in her seat each game...maybe because of what my friend Missy is going through at the Mayo Clinic... not sure. We had a "rocky" relationship, but she was still, after all, my mom. This is one of my favorite pictures of her, from her junior year in high school at McCallum here in Austin. Not too long after this photo was taken, she met my dad... and well, here my brother and I are. Married at 18, a mom at 19. Incredible. I guess it was the norm in the fifties, but I can't imagine me married at 18. I couldn't remember to put gas in my car at 18! And if she was still here, she'd be sure to tell you all the times she had to come rescue my ass for either running out of gas or locking my keys in the car. Love you Mom. I think I see you sometimes sitting on top of the scoreboard at the Disch......

Dork Alert
Heh Heh Heh.... finally found some one who is able (and WILLING) to go see Barry Manilow in Las Vegas! Turns out my cousin Alison is just as much a dork as me! (Not really news...) Woo Hoo! We leave in the afternoon on May 20, **HAVE FRONT ROW SEATS FOR THE 9PM SHOW THAT NIGHT**, and come home on Sunday the 22nd. We are even missing the UT vs. TAMU baseball games that weekend. Talk about sacrifice...

HITCHED!
Well Well Well... what a trip it was. My surprise birthday trip turned into my surprise wedding! Ben and I got married at the Monroe County Courthouse on Friday, March 4, in beautiful Key West, Florida. He had it all planned out - rings, witnesses.... Our friends Jon and Lisa Wilburn joined us! We all had a great time. In the middle of the 3 minute ceremony, Ben's Mom called on my cell phone to wish me a happy birthday. Moms really do have a 6th sense, don't they? Here's a couple of my favorite photos so far... we only took 500! More to come on my photo link over there. The Green Parrot Bar was our first stop after the hitching ceremony...
