I was there! National Title #6

I'm back, exhausted, but soooooo glad I went! We all had a great time. Texas beat the Univeristy of Florida Gators in two games. It was not as "electric" as I expected, but it was so cool to be there and see it in person. There were so many Texas fans there I had to keep reminding myself we were at the College World Series, not just another game at the Disch! UT is lighting up the Tower tonight, orange with the numer 1 on it. I am just way too tired to go down and get photos. I'll just steal one off the net! And for the record, it is WAY more humid in Omaha, Nebraska, than we ever thought of having here. I read in the Omaha paper today that it may have been the hottest CWS on record. Of course :-)

(Note the Gator on his horn)

I loved this... the "eliminated teams" merch table. I know I should support the Big 12, but...hahahahahahahah....

And this one is cool of both teams lined up for the national anthem. That cool Epcot looking structure in the background is part of Omaha's world famous zoo. We did not make it over there (unless Alison and Wes did today) but heard more than a few times how magnificent it is.

The Tradition Continues!

Okay, I'm about to pee my pants, I'm so excited!! Of course, those who know me well know that peeing my pants is a monthly (?) occurance, but anyway.

So, here's the set up: The University of Texas at Omaha has prevailed... they are headed into the NCAA Baseball College World Series best 2 of 3 Championship series. And GUESS WHO IS GOING TO BE THERE?!?! Yup, ME! And Baby Cuzzin of course. After much hand wringing about missing 2 days of work next week, I said WTF and got me a plane ticket to Lincoln Nebraska! (only 45 min from Omaha) I'm pretty sure I've never been in Nebraska. Maybe over it on my way to 'Sconsin... and this photo says it all. My mom used to go the CWS quite often, because her "special friend" lived near there. (Yeah, okay, her Sugar Daddy) These two photos show my mother at Omaha, Rosenblatt Stadium, circa 1985, and Baby Cuzzin & Me at a recent regional (prolly 2 or 3 years ago) playoff here in Austin. Notice the Texas flag in pretty much the same position in both photos? I'm pretty sure she's smiling down on us right now. And saying it's about freaking time. So WERD to my mama... let us please win in two games since I have to come home on Monday! And WERD to my husband, whom I don't believe I have seen for more than 20 minutes (awake) since some time in May.... I love you! And just think... this is really IT! No more baseball after this weekend. And only like 2 more months for your football! :-)

So, look for us on TV, ESPN Sat 6pm Central. We are sitting in the grandstands behind home plate... the 3rd grouping of seats IN THE SHADE. Sunday we don't know... we'll have to pray to the baseball gods for tickets that are decent. Otherwise, you may see us in the outfield at 2pm!!!
HOOK 'EM FREAKIN' HORNS!!!!!!!!!
Oh mah gawd, I can't stand it. I just can't stand it.

Ah, here we go again... the College World Series opens up today. One day I'll go to Omaha to see it all. I'd have to quit my job, though, so I guess I should play the lottery or something. Let's hope the Longhorns can bring home another National Championship this year!

UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT OMAHA!

YEAH! So the Longhorn baseball team makes its 32nd trip to the College World Series this year! woo hoo! Thank the TV gods for TiVo... I can't stand to watch. No patience. So I pause it, go do something else, then fast forward thru the game about 30 minutes at a time. I'm a sissy! It's hard to watch them on TV after going to 30 or more games and seeing them live. For those that are interested, which would be few of my friends :-), this is the official site for the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. Sorry Ben, two more weekends of baseball!

Tour de Ben

Another great night of rock n roll! Ben was the ultimate Rock Star last night... played at Antone's with Nooner at 9pm and then hiked it over to 6th Street to the Dirty Dog Bar to play with Bag100. (and today Nooner is on its way to Dallas for another show) Both were great shows, and here's a few photos... I'm seriously considering a new camera. The one we have is a really really good camera, but I'm really liking the Canon Rebel digital slr. It will take better no flash photos of the bands, but of course it is uber expensive as well...

Regional Winners

Ah, UT survives yet another round in baseball playoffs. Yay! This past weekend was a total blast... especially since the baseball team won today to proceed to the "super-regionals". The highlight for me was sitting in the box seats, front row, just next to the backstop so I was not behind the net. I don't sit that far back in my normal seats, but when you are that close you realize just how big those boys are! So the 'horns are off to Oxford Mississippi to play the Ole Miss Rebels in a best 2 outta 3 contest. I think it will be Sat - Sun - if necessary Mon. If they win there, they will be in the college world series for the 5th time this century. (they missed out on going in 2001, won it in 2002....) I should have gone to the final game today that was at 1:00, but felt funny leaving work early again. (Left early on Friday) but, ya know, I can't figure out why I worry about that shit!
Anyway, here's some game photos, and one of me and the sweet little Beagle showing off my glowing sunburn. (Courtesy of the cool front row seating)

HOOK 'EM!
