Hooray Muppets!
Last November the USPS announced they would be printing a series of stamps for Jim Henson's Muppets. Finally, a release date of September 28 has been announced. Check 'em out!

Photo Contest
Okay, I need some input here... I want to enter a pet photo contest. These are 3 of my favorites so far. So let me know what you think! Which one? I think I can enter more than one, but give me some input anyway. It's sponsored by Precision Camera and the Statesman. They are looking for photographic quality/something different as well as cuteness...

Why am I up so early, you may ask?
Why AM I up so darn early? Because I am a Disney Geek. Ben and I will be at Disney World in 87 days. They have these "specialty cruises" around the "lake" at EPCOT that you can take during the big fireworks show each night. Problem 1: There are only 2 boats. They hold 10 each. Problem 2: You have to call exactly 90 days from the day you want the reservation to try and get it. I started dialing at 5:57am this morning. "Our offices are closed" "Our offices are closed" "Our offices are closed" Bingo! "Thank you for calling Walt Disney World recreational reservations..." So I thought HOT DOG! I'm in this time! (obviously not the first time I've tried this craziness) AND? nope. The two boats were already reserved. Now, you know what a skeptic I am. I asked the kind "cast member" if those were indeed booked this morning, just 2 seconds before I got through? She said yes, there is no other way to reserve them other than calling into their reservations exactly 90 days from the day you want the cruise. This is the 4th time I've been told this by a "cast member". So I said, well, what's it look like for the Oct 21st time frame? Caught her off guard... "Oh, let me look". Luckily she caught herself and said they were not booked yet because of the 90 day thing. So, I still don't believe it, but what the hey. There are places on the net where people post that they have the cruise and have room for additional peeps. We'll see.
My work has been very busy again. I mean, we are always busy, but at this point Elisa and I are swamped. Almost to the point of being overwhelmed. I know from past experience it will all work out, but sheesh. Of course, I'm glad to be busy. It's just that it's feast or famine. No in-between. I think that since it really has been this busy for a couple of years, I'm hoping to catch a break. But then when it does slow down I get all worried that I'll never be busy again. Working in sales is so much fun. NOT.
In other notes: Check out this picture! Lucy, Sierra, Christine, Nicole, and Kristin have been participating in a puppy class for a few weeks now. Nicole claims Sierra is a genius and is learning well. Kristin says Spaz, I mean Lucy, is also catching on. Run on over to Special K's web site (2005 photo page) for more on the mutts.
Yesterday I was accused of being on speed, as I was extremely wordy in our group emails during the day. At one point Nicole, who always gives one word answers anyway, just typed "I'm tired" in response to one of my emails. Well, guess what ladies? I will probably be that way again today! I guess it's getting up this early and drinking a pot of coffee? It could also have been the subject matter. We were discussing the upcoming Nooner/Devil's Day show at the lake, and, uh I guess you could call it "reminiscing" about last year's outing.... 'nuff said on that. Ahem.

Cheeeeeese!
Okay, we're just plain silly, but I love the Cheese ball photos! Nooner played last night at the Dirty Dog Bar on 6th Street. It was the first time in a long time mostly the "whole gang" was there. Anything But Prettier also played their farewell show. Sorely missed was The Lizard, who thinks a cousin's wedding in Los Angeles with her whole family is more fun. (?) Here's a few of the Professor Cheeseball photos. Special K also took a few... so check out her web site.

Finally...
A decision was made. After yapping about it and trying to figure out what I want, I bought a new Honda Pilot today. I have looked at about 10 different vehicles, but have always wanted this one. So, I finally just did it! I'm calling it my mini-RV.

Baseball Geek
Over the 4th of July weekend, Ben and I traveled to the Detroit area for a visit with his Mom's family. She is one of seven kids, so there were quite a few of them. (2 brothers were unable to attend...imagine if....) We had such a good time, and it was nice for Ben (and Malia) to reconnect with their family. I greatly enjoyed meeting them all and their Grandmother, known as "Gram" or "Jams" depending on who you talk to. We of course did the "we lived there" and "we went to school there" tour, which Ben is subjected to all the time in Austin... We hung out and visited quite a bit, played some cards (with 5 boys in the family do ya think they are at all competitive?). We also snuck in a baseball game, MUCH to my liking! Ben, Paul, and Ben's Uncle Tim and I attended the game on Sunday between the Detroit Tigers and the New York Yankees. Unfortunately, the Tigers lost, but we still managed to enjoy ourselves. My photo link is up over to the left. I know it's been 4 years since Pudge Rodriguez was a Texas Ranger, but it's still funny to see him elsewhere. And EVERYONE had a Pudge jersey on! I purposely did not take any Longhorn shirts, since the Rose Bowl has always been owned by the Big 10, and Texas kind of burst that bubble last year...(Tim graciously, through gritted teeth, told me I had bragging rights until the next Rose Bowl) Here are a couple of my favorite photos....
The afore-mentioned baseball geek:

Aunt Lisa Simmons and Ryan

Uncle Mike and Aunt Donna Simmons with Joey and Jessie (the stinkpot)

Ben and his Godmother, Aunt Mary Lou Jantz

And the hamburger joint I have had to hear about for 8 years... (Nooner goes to Detroit)
