Talkin' 'bout BASE-BALL
So earlier I mentioned a freshman player named Kyle Russell. He’s an awesome ball player, and will be my new favorite, since Taylor Teagarden is gone. Saturday, my actual first game, was a bit too murky for photos. Sunday was gorgeous, but they cut the game a little short since Villanova had a plane to catch. Texas swept them, which was a good boost, since they are having a sluggish start. They are currently 9-6. As one person over at Hornfan.com pointed out, they hadn’t lost 6 games until April of last year. But with all the new faces, it is to be expected. What is even more disturbing is the Aggy of Collie Station! They have a new coach this year, and are carrying a record of 10-1 right now. YIKES! I’m sure their online baseball forums are just a-buzzin’ with Aggyisms galore. I can’t bring myself to go look. Someone else do it and report back.
edit 3/1/06: Kyle Russell gets recognized.
Here’s a couple of photos from Sunday. I’m so jazzed! Woo Hoo!
That's Kyle Russell on base. And as for #12 there, he is this year's volunteer assistant coach. Rob Penders. That will probably mean nothing to most of you. Google Tom Penders, former UT basketball coach.
A nice view of the infield...

Nooner Rocked Austin Friday Night
Austin rock band Nooner celebrated the release of their second CD at Stubbs BBQ located at 8th & Red River and totally knocked the socks off of all present. Their appearance is a bit different from their premier show at 710 Club just across the street from Stubbs, three years (just about to the day) earlier. The employees at Stubbs are ruder than normal bar folk, (and I've had lots of experience there... you don't HAVE to be a dick - hell, Nooner fans tip well) but we got past it and had a great time! Nooner was joined by Lone Star Porn Star and Squint, who equally rocked the place. (or so I heard and do not doubt! - I was at a late dinner down the street at Moonshine Grill.) The music has done nothing but improve with age. They remixed some of the standards and added a couple of new ones (songs AND guitar players) to this release. Way to rock, boyz! Special thanks to Scotty MC, most recently of Bag100 for the great pics.

Hooray for Baseball
What's killing me is they don't have any weekend home games until the 24th of February! Hopefully it will warm up by then. It's c-o-o-o-o-o-o-ld today!
And woe is me, all I have is a stinky bed-hoggin' Beagle to keep me warm tonight. Ben and the Nooner boys are rockin' Kerrville.
