Birthday Boy

Baby Cayle turned 3 today... He's just the sweetest cutest little toot ever! He reminds me so much of my nephew Brett when he was a baby. Nephew Brett turned 19 yesterday. Haven't seen him in ages! He's a busy dude, you know. All grown up at 19. Here's Cayle at Birth, age 1, age 2, age 3. :-) And Baby Cuzzin's brother, Brad, my other Baby Cuzzin :-) , was here with his brood. 3 weekends in a row of family visits, and baseball together next weekend. Tante is a little worried that "heck" is freezing over or we need to watch for lightning.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAYLE!

Bowls and other tidbits

Malia and Paul have been very good to me in the bowl department. They've taken a few really cool trips - Italy, Hawaii, and recently Great Britain. To feed my bowl habit - here are two from them:

Texas Hail

On Thursday my car weathered four separate hail storms in one day. Yep. Four. It was craziness. Amazingly no damage has been spotted.

Dallas Visit

Went for a quick trip - left Friday and came home Saturday. We celebrated our good friend Jon's birthday at a restaurant called Ozona Westex something or other, ate some great food and visited with his family. Afterwards we tried out the Flying Saucer in Richardson (very crowded smokey bar) and then went to Walt and Jenny's house for silliness. Got up Saturday, ate at our favorite restaurant, Ali Baba's, with Malia, Paul, Lisa, & Jon. YUM. Then we got to finally meet the new cousin Beagle, Jake! On the way home I listened to the UT Baseball game on our Sirius Satellite radio. I'm glad I chose Sirius over XM. UT lost to Nebraska - so today will be the "rubber match" to see if they can win 2 outta 3. It's a busy weekend - after the game I'll be heading to my Granddad's as my Aunt & Uncle that live in Georgia are in town...

Cold Front?

We've had "unseasonably" (a phrase I'm already tired of hearing) warm temperatures the last few days (95+ every day) - now comes relief? We have a spectacular light show going on just north of our house. This front is supposed to drop us back to the mid 80's, at least for a few days. I sure wish something would light up UT Baseball tonight - they are losing by 4 going into their last at bat down in San Antonio. Harumph. (they lost.)

Here's a 4 second
video of some of the lightning. (Right click and save as... it'll work faster for you) Note what the weather was like just 2 short months ago... 2/16/06

Happy 13th Birthday Krista Kay!

My niece, Krista, is growing up way too fast. In age and HEIGHT! We had a nice family outing yesterday for the UT-Baylor Baseball game at Disch-Falk Field. Alison and Cayle came, along with the new one in Alison's belly!
Alison and Baby #2!
Sammy & Ginny, Alison's 'rents and my uncle and aunt, and David with Krista and her friend "kute as bug" Kylee. The game was very drawn out since it was being shown on TV, so around 7th innning we got a bit bored. Not a boring game at all, though - all three games in this series were nail biters. Most of us headed back to the lawn chairs. On the way, Kylee decided to ask the firefighters (they come to a lot of the games, parking their rig behind left field) if they could climb up so they could see the game. The girls ended up getting the full tour, trying on the gear, and were all giggly about it. (13 year olds are something else!) Here's a few photos. The first one of Krista Kay at her 4th *sniff* *sniff* birthday party.

Got it

It's here - I had to pick it up myself at the UPS center, and now I haven't really had time to play with it! But of course my first photo was of the beagle.

Wiki Meme

I have no idea what that means, for the record. But I'm following directions from Special K, and stuck my date of birth in the Wikipedia site's search box. I am to pick 3 events, 2 births, 1 death. Here's what I found (and not one for following rules....):

* If I read it right, he is the son of the dude Bourbon Street is named after...

AND! On this date in 1997 Ben and I met - thanks to Baby Cuzzin! :-) Happy Nine Years to us!

Meet Kasey * update * Meet Jake Irby!

*update 4/10/06 - all is going well in the Irby household. Looks like the new member may be a keeper! They've changed his name to Jake. So we have two Denver QB's in the family - Paul wonders if there is a Beagle somewhere named Brian Griese! ha!

We finally have a new addition to the Mills side of the family - and Elway has a new playmate! Meet Kasey (whose name may change). He's a year old Beagle that Paul and Malia found through Petfinder dot com. They say he's a bundle of energy! Can't wait to meet him, and introduce the two Beagle Cousins.

kasey

Congrats to the new parents!!

MS 150 BIKE RIDE

I won't put any pressure on my friends other than this post...

My friend Marianne Roeder will be biking in the MS 150 fund raiser for Multiple Sclerosis. This will be her third year to participate. I'm a bit partial to this charity since my dad has MS. He was diagnosed when I was 7 years old, and it is one ugly disease. He was in his early 30's when he was diagnosed, and he is still living with it at 66. I've been told he is the longest living MS patient in Texas.

YUM-O Sushi

Okay, I don't know why 6 months ago you couldn't pay me to eat sushi, and now I can't even go a week without it, but that is the way it is.

YUM
(shrimp tempura, philly, veggie rolls)

In Austin I've had Umi, Hakata, Sushi Sake, Beluga, Keniche, and some GAWD awful place off of Howard Lane...and in San Antonio Sushi Zushi. My favorites are Umi and Kenichi so far. I love the sushi! And I've even convinced Bengaroo that it's good stuff. He was a little jealous that I ate it tonight without him. Nooner is in WHICHA-TITTY tonight. My family knows what that is...to all others, it's Wichita Falls, Tx. A/K/A TORNADO HEAVEN!

Tonight I made good use of my new Mickey Mouse bowls. And K and LB will be proud that I used my chop sticks the whole time.

I talked to Malier and Pauly tonight - they are back safe and sound from the United Kingdom. AND!! they are going to meet a Beagle tomorrow at a shelter! Elway may have a new cousin! I'll keep you posted. Along that thought - my friends Kristin and Jef bought a house recently, and their neighbor has a Beagle. I can't wait to meet Rambo.
