A favorite quote
I am accused regularly of being a cynic. That is why I love this quote----
"The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who don't have it."
- George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)

The Lisa Glare
I've been reminiscing a lot lately ... my Uncle Warner, my mom's youngest brother, lives in Georgia with his lovely wife Auntie Pim (really Pam). They came to visit recently, and Warner, being the smart one in the family, dug out all of the old family slides at my Granddad's house. He's in the process of digitizing them... So I started going through some of the old photos I have, and scanning them and adding them too. I found one of me that really made me laugh - not only was I sooooooo young, but the glare... the glare is the same one I have today. Given the known tumultuous relationship I had with my Mother most of our lives, I'd bet she was responsible for this picture. It was taken 25 years ago at my high school graduation. I'm sure my husband will recognize the look. And likely most of my friends, too.

Just a little R & R
Ah... another nice relaxing visit to the Alamo City. It came about in a humorous way... Ben mentioned he had the weekend free a couple of weeks ago - free from band commitments, etc. So we just thought it may be nice to head south for the weekend. I started looking on the internet for hotels. Our favorite, the Menger, was booked up. All the other Riverwalk Hotels were outrageously expensive - at least to me. ($265 or so and up) On a whim, I thought I'd try Priceline. I'd used it before, and ended up getting a hotel too far for walking in the heat, but what the heck. I put in 4 star, Riverwalk, and $129. And got it! Ended up with a king room on the 11th floor, with a balcony, overlooking the river at the Westin Riverwalk hotel. We didn't do much, mostly because I decided to miss a curb getting out of our car as we ARRIVED - see photo below. Now, unfortunately, it's back to reality and work. pffffft.

Oops-nice shade of purple on my foot:

Sig Lines
I read a funny message board called Hornfan, and some of the signature lines just crack me up. Some are quotes from other posters, some are made up, some from famous folks. Here's a few - (Lots of Aggy references, of course) I'm not sayin' I agree with them, I just think they are funny! People anonymous on a UT fan message board get a little brave with their words sometimes. These people actually have this stuff on every post they make - right their in the signature lines... Like other message boards I suppose.
- If A&M can sue the Seahawks over the use of the "12th Man" concept, can the military sue A&M over the "soldier" concept?
- Twenty four hours in a day. Twenty four beers in a case. Coincidence?
- Thanks for playing the game aggy boy. Tell him what he's won! A 3rd rate education at a 4th rate institution and a life long membership to a cult!

- You can't spell c cks cker ** deleted as offensive ** I just thought it was funny -
- Be proud of what you have accomplished, and enjoy this moment. Let this be a great thing in life, but don’t let it be the best thing that ever happens in your life. Go on from here, be great husbands and great dads, and make a difference. -Mack Brown

Sweet 16 Baby Girl!

My very first baby is 16. I'm feeling a bit old. When I first took Peso in, I was 27, never married, living in far South Austin... My life is very much POLAR OPPOSITE of where I thought I'd be 16 years later. #1 being I never thought she'd still be here. :-) And I gotta tell ya, I am sooooo happy to be where I am today.
She's sweet as pie, loves her mama, and funny looking all at the same time.
Happy Birthday my sweet baby girl. Y
