Turn out the lights...

A look at the decade so far for Texas baseball:
- 2000: 4th in Big 12 conf - Trip to CWS in Omaha, 2 and out
- 2001: 3rd in Big 12 conf - lost to Stanford in Regional playoffs
- 2002: 1st in Big 12 conf - Beat Rice, Stanford, and South Carolina to win CWS - NCAA National Champs
- 2003: Tied for 2nd in Big 12 conf - Lost twice to CWS winner Rice - 3rd in Nation
- 2004: 1st in Big 12 conf - Lost twice to Cal State Fullerton at CWS - 2nd in Nation
- 2005: 3rd in Big 12 conf - Beat Baylor, Tulane, and Florida to Win CWS - NCAA National Champs
- 2006: 3rd in Big 12 conf - lost to Stanford and NC State in Regional Playoffs
So, all in all, Texas baseball fans like me are very happy! Five trips and two Championships at the College World Series in Omaha out of the last seven years. Not too shabby.
Disch-Falk Field is more than 30 years old, so not only will the baseball field have a new name next year, it will also have a new look. I took a bunch of photos yesterday so we can make some comparisons next year. The work is said to be starting immediately so that it can be ready for next season. I'll have to get over there and take photos as it progresses. Wonder how much our season ticket prices will go up? Here's a couple of current / proposed photos:
Current: 1st base side (view from 3rd base)
The proposed renovation of that side:
Shows that the bleachers to the left of the grandstands will be removed, and the lower box seats extended out. The light poles will be behind instead of in their current view obstructing position.
The facade will also be new - here's current:
And here's the proposed:
Hook 'em Horns! Thanks Augie and company for another outstanding year of Texas Baseball...
