Love Fest

My friends Candy and Rick tied the knot this past Sunday at the Plantation House in Pflugerville. They called it "Love Fest". We have special pink mugs and shot glasses to commemorate the occasion! It was a beautiful ceremony, but very hot. (Which is of course the way it is in Texas from May to October... ) As you'll see in the photos, we were all quite shiny. I only mention it because I thought it was funny as I was going through the photos. Candy's son Timothy participated in the ceremony, as well as her step-children from a previous marriage, Meggie and Rudy. It was a wonderful family affair for them all. It was also a reunion of sorts for a lot of us mortgage folks--- we all work too hard to get together much any more. Congrats to "Candace Ann" and "Ricky Lee"!

Becca and Trace loved yelling into the fan, and many adults joined them later as the heat got worse

I learned something recently...

Don't sneeze when you have Crest Whitening strips on your teeth. It's not pretty.

Rock On

Another fun night with the Austin Indie Alliance at the Velvet Spade, downtown Austin Texas. Lots of good bands, and it was cool to see everyone. I haven't really hung out with the AIA folks since Spring Break. Interesting night (morning) too, but that's another post entirely. Here's some of my favorite shots -

Turn out the lights...

... the party's over. The Texas Longhorns' baseball season ended yesterday with an "uninspired" (to quote a friend at the park) loss to North Carolina State. Their loss on Saturday to Stanford could also be classified as uninspiring, but at least they had some spark. Stanford went on to beat NC State to advance to the Super-regionals for a shot at Omaha.

THE FINAL EYES OF TEXAS

Final Eyes 2006

A look at the decade so far for Texas baseball:

So, all in all, Texas baseball fans like me are very happy! Five trips and two Championships at the College World Series in Omaha out of the last seven years. Not too shabby.

LET THE RENOVATIONS BEGIN

Disch-Falk Field is more than 30 years old, so not only will the baseball field have a new name next year, it will also have a new look. I took a bunch of photos yesterday so we can make some comparisons next year. The work is said to be starting immediately so that it can be ready for next season. I'll have to get over there and take photos as it progresses. Wonder how much our season ticket prices will go up? Here's a couple of current / proposed photos:

Current: 1st base side (view from 3rd base) Disch 1st base side
The proposed renovation of that side:

The facade will also be new - here's current: The Disch currently

Hook 'em Horns! Thanks Augie and company for another outstanding year of Texas Baseball...
