Devil in the Details
Frontera Fest 2008 is off and running! Our friend Liz performed in a short fringe last year that was hilarious... this year she ventured into a long fringe called "Devil in the Details". Totally awesome and highly recommended!
My Vegas trip was so much fun... visited with Mike, and celebrated my brother's birthday with him and Anita. We went to see the Cirque du Soleil show "Beatles Love" at the Mirage. A must see for any Beatles fan. I was completely entranced. So much so that I've decided to make a quick trip back to Vegas in March to see it again! I must leave during South by Southwest as the whole thing irritates me. Getting cranky, I suppose. So I'm headed for San Diego, and while I'm out there I'll make a quick detour to Vegas again. Unfortunately I think the day I'm heading home is the first day Christine and Nicole will be in Vegas. We'll probably pass each other in the air.
In other news... our neighbors are now the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy! They were on the adoption list for only a couple of months, and are so excited and happy it is indescribable. Isn't he cute??

Conversation with a 14 year old
Cell phone rings. It's my 14 year old niece.
Niece: 'Hi Aunt Lisa. Are your feet flat or arched?'
Me: Uhhh, arched.
Niece: And are your earlobes attached or detached?
Me: Huh? Ummmm... let me look...
Niece: I'm doing a project on genetics for my science class
Me: Uh, well, okay then. My earlobes are attached. They do not flap in the wind.
Me: What about yours? Do they flap in the wind?
Niece: *giggle* yes!
Me: Well, you got that from your Grandpa Max. His flap in the wind.
Niece: *giggle*
Me: Is that it?
Niece: Yeah. Oh wait! Can you curl your tongue?
Me: Yes.
Niece: That's good! Okay, I think I'm done. Bye!

2008
Here we are! Wow.
Ben did not have a gig last night, so instead of relaxing at home and being lazy, what did we do? Why we went to the Red Eyed Fly to see live music, of course! :-) Turns out it was a total blast and we are both glad we went. Tim, bass player extraordinaire for She Craves sidelines in a band called the Stummies. I can't describe them adequately, but I can try. There are 3 bass players, 5 guitars, two drummers, a keyboard, ... well, it's a virtual talent conglomeration of many musicians. They play 80's music for the most part. Our friend Jessica did the make up.
The nice part is, 5 years ago right now is when Tim met Liz, his wife. She fell in love with him in spite of the lovely red pants and the Richard Simmons fro wig. Amazing, but true. Happy Five Years, Browns!
We stayed at the round Holiday Inn on Town Lake, which turned out to be a really great idea. (started by the Browns - we copied them) This hotel has a shuttle that goes every 30 minutes to 5th & Red River. Perfecto! The Red Eyed Fly is at 8th & Red River.
