Paul's Poopsie
Sadly, the Irby's want Jake back. Already. We had hoped little Irlene would be enough to distract them from noticing that their sweet little Beagle was gone. Apparently not. Pauly is missing his Poopsie. Unfortunately, we have gotten very attached to Jake. And so has Elway. Elway definitely has a renewed spring in his step, having another dog around. So, of course, guess what we did? Signed up with a Hound Rescue site to see about adopting another Beagle! :-) I think a girl doggie about 3 years old would work best - for both Elway and Jake. I'm sure we will babysit Jake again, and 3 male dogs could be a problem.
So take note friends... you may be on our reference list.
We'll miss this Beagle greeting!

But we'll still have this one! :-)

Julia Lynn
After a fantastic weekend at Cedar Creek Lake with the Wilburns (more on that later) we headed to Dallas to visit our new niece. She is so precious! I cried like a baby when I first saw her. I am a sap. Paul and Malia are very happy and proud, and are going to be wonderful parents. Malia - a little pixie dust being sent your way, hoping you are feeling much better FAST! :-)
I think she looks like Ben and Malia - of course it is too soon to tell. Paul said his mother thought she was looking "Millsy".
Here she is!

Beautiful Baby Girl
And here she is! Now I'm counting the days to Sunday when we get to meet her. Julia Lynn Irby showed up at 2:21pm, Monday April 14. 8-lbs, 9-oz, 20 inches long. Everyone's fine and healthy. Isn't she cute!?!? Ben even said "Wow, she's a cute baby - doesn't look like a lizard at all!" I think she has the Mills nose :-)
Congrats to Malia and Paul!!!

Now we have 2 nieces - One born on April 14, and one born April 15, 15 years ago today!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRISTA KAY!!
Here she is with her Great-Granddad:

Family visits, dogs, appliances...
Busy week! My Aunt & Uncle (Mom's brother) came in for a visit from Savannah Georgia. It's a treat to have them both - we usually only see Uncle Warner. We attended a UT baseball game (of course!) that was being played at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock. Uncle Sammy got there early enough to secure front row behind home plate. We took up the whole front row and some of the second row with friends and family. It was fun! Uncle Warner must have known we'd be at a game - he brought his UT cap...

Saturday we all met up at Dave & Busters for a late lunch and played some games. The whole gang was there except Ben - my aunt & uncle swear he doesn't really exist. I need to send them a photo... one where he's holding a newspaper with the date on it maybe? :-)
And we have a washer and dryer that ... wait ... omigosh ... ACTUALLY WORK! It all worked out for the best - this LG set is much nicer. If any of you are in the market for updated front loader appliances, I definitely recommend LG. I definitely DON'T recommend Maytag. They may look the same, but huge difference!

Sister-in-Law is in the hospital, awaiting the arrival of Irlene Rosemary Irby. Just kidding, I don't know what they will be naming the child - I named her so I didn't just call her baby girl Irby these last 5 months. They went in last night to prepare for labor induction today. We'll get to see all of them next Sunday - so I'll have photos next week!
In the meantime, we have their little boy Irby - Jake. He has acclimated nicely here - and is so much fun to have around! He's even put a little spring in Elway's step.

He's ba-a-a-a-a-ack! and other news...

Elway's Cousin Jake is back for a visit! His parents, Paul and Malia, are expecting to deliver a baby girl any day now (the 14th at the latest) so Jake is going to stay with us for awhile. He is so much fun - kind of like how Elway was 8 or 9 years ago. A little scampy! :-)
Last night I grilled on my beautiful new gas grill - finally. Ben got it for me for Christmas, and we just haven't had time to put it together. (note to self - have assembled at the store) Neighbor Ahrey came over one Sunday evening and put it together for us.

We recently grappled with what items to upgrade in our house first - we've been here 6 years, we have 10 year old TV's and appliances... should we get a huge HD TV? We were BOTH for that - my eyesight seems to be getting worse by the day, and the little 25" TV in our living room is harder and harder to see. A new Fridge? Ours works for the most part, we just hate it. A new washer and dryer? We really like the new more efficient front loaders. W & D won. After much research, we decided on the Maytag EpicZ models. They were delivered last Thursday. Neither one works. The dryer's power button did not work, and the washer, after 2 loads of clothes, had an "un-named" error message - general failure. Nice, huh? I have to say Home Depot was great - I ordered them on line so as to maximize mileage points etc... which makes returns a whole different ball game. But the local store not only accepted the return, they gave us a great discount on a fancier LG pair! They are scheduled to arrive any minute now. But no one has picked up the non-working ones. And we still have the old old ones in the garage. (Which will be put on Craig's list shortly if you know anyone that needs a set - they work fine, just not as well as the new fancy front loaders)
Here's hoping we have better luck with the LG's! The manager at the Home Depot kept saying "Wow-I have NEVER had both not work!" Seriously - they really were awesome. I know they SHOULD have been awesome, after all, but it was refreshing that I didn't have to bitch or threaten to go elsewhere... I was going to ask for a 10% discount on the LG's - they offered about $250 off before I could open my mouth. Uh, sure, I'll take that instead! :-)
Here are the Maytag EpicZ's that don't work....
